Wadowice-Church-John-Paul-II

Wadowice is a town located just 30 miles south of Krakow. The history of the city dates back to the 13th century but the most important event there took place on 18-th May 1920. This is a date when John Paul II was born.

Nowadays Wadowice is visited by almost 0,5 million tourists every year. The most important place to see there is a house where Karol was born and spend all his childhood and youth. Next to the John Paul 2 Home there is a church where as he said ‘everything has begun’. Wadowice is known also from Pope’s favorite cake – cream-cake ‘kremowka’ that can be tasted in every cafe or candy shop.

If you’d like to visit Wadowice from Krakow there are several possible way to get there. The most convenient and the fastest is private transport with my company: KRK-KrakowTours.

Your private tour to Wadowice could start directly from your hotel in Krkaow. The home of John Paul the II is open for visitor every day except Monday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM (4:00PM in winter).

At the appointed time I could pick you up from your hotel and drive You directly to Wadowice. It takes only one hour to get there from the center of Krakow so we can begin even on the afternoon. If you’re running out of time it’s possible to start or end tour at the airport or combine it with visit in Auschwitz or Salt Mines on the same day.

In Wadowice You can start sightseeing from visit in the home of JP2. Then just few steps and you are in Pope’s Church. Although both places are great tourist attractions there are no admission fees.

In the House You can see amazing photographs gallery which shows Pope’s live from very beginning as well as original documents, furnitures and another properties of Pope. What is important there are descripitions and explanations in 6 languages so it’s possible to understand everything without a guide.

Although visit in Pope’s home is very interesting it doesn’t last very long. Usually 1 hour is enough too see the church and home. Then you can buy some souvenir and take a rest in one of local coffee shops. We recommend You to try delicious ‘kremowka’ cake.

During the tour I will be at your disposal all the time. I will show you the way and help with everything also as an interpreter. On the way back to Krakow there are two another interesting places: Kalwaria Zebrzydowska and Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki.
